Prepping food boxes at the Marian House

Emergency and holiday food boxes are available for those who cannot access on-site services. Boxes vary from complete meals to essential non-perishable foods.

Food Boxes

In partnership with American Charitable Trust, Catholic Charities provides food boxes that contain recipes and all the ingredients necessary to prepare four to seven complete meals for a family of four.  In addition, other items usually included in the meal boxes are pasta, sauce, peanut butter, jelly, and oatmeal.

Emergency food boxes contain a mixture of soups, canned fruits, vegetables, cereal, rice, beans, pasta, sauce, as well as other non-perishable food items.

In general, Holiday food boxes are available during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Boxes may include a turkey or ham and sides for a complete holiday meal.  Catholic Charities always needs help with food or gift cards that can be given to families so they can purchase the items they need.  To help, call us at 719-229-9942.  During the month of November, we ask for donations of turkeys.  During December, we need hams.  Donations can be dropped at the Marian House, 14 West Bijou Street, at the dock located on the west side of the building, Monday – Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

For the 2017 holiday season, Catholic Charities will be distributing turkeys or hams on designated days close to Thanksgiving.  If sides dishes are available, they will be distributed at that time.

In collaboration with Care and Share, senior food boxes are available from the Marian House to low-income individuals ages 60+.  The boxes contain supplemental food items and are made available on a monthly basis.  Senior Food Box applications are accepted at the Marian House.  Call 719-229-9942 for more information.
