February is Human Trafficking Awareness Month

February is Human Trafficking Awareness Month.  To bring attention to the issue, Catholic Charities Community & Parish Engagement is participating in the 5th Annual Human Trafficking Advocacy/Legislative Day on February 16, 2017 at the Colorado State Capitol with representatives from the parish community and the Diocese of Colorado Springs.  The office is also coordinating a prayer service after the 12:10 pm Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral on February 8th, International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking.  If interested in participating in the event, contact us at 719-866-6444.

The Advocacy/Legislative Day is organized by the Human Trafficking Task Force and features a rally and significant speakers on the prevention and advocacy of Human Trafficking.

The United States Conference of Bishops’ Anti-Trafficking Program provides more information on the national efforts of Catholics for advocacy, raising awareness, providing training and technical assistance, and integration services surrounding human trafficking.
