Early Childhood & Parent Education | Building Strong Families

Family Services | Transforming Lives

Our Family Learning Center, located on the Helen Hunt Nonprofit Campus in the old two-story school building, is a child-friendly space that fosters children’s ability to interact in positive and productive ways in an early learning environment while parents are participating in programs at Family Connections. A variety of free courses, educational resources, and activities are available to empower participants with the skills and knowledge to help their families thrive. If you need more information or are ready to register for one of the programs, contact us at KDobyns@CCharitiesCC.org.

Growing Great Kids

Partnering with parents of children zero through five years of age through weekly home visits that help support children’s early growth, learning, and development. Early childhood learning modules are focused on each child’s individual stage of development, and family strengthening modules build upon parenting skills and goals unique to each family.

Playgroup

A time for parents with little ones who are birth through preschool to connect with other parents, while similar-aged children begin practicing social interactions in a safe early childhood learning environment. Families will explore children’s books and fun activities through circle/storytime, music, art experiences, and movement/games that introduce school readiness and early literacy activities.

Motheread/Fatheread

An early literacy program providing free books for families, and opportunities to share the joy of reading with other parents and their children. Utilizing select children’s literature, book themes offer guided and thoughtful conversations around a variety of parenting topics while also including “story extenders” with fun activities to do at home with children.

Safe & Secure Kids Parenting Series

A series of classes focused on supporting and encouraging parents in learning critical infant/child health and safety information. The series includes Infant and Child Safety, Understanding Your Newborn, Understanding Fatherhood, Infant Massage, and Super Siblings. Through these classes, parents select and receive needed baby safety items at no cost.

Parenting on the Go

Individualized parent programming for families unable to attend a traditional, ongoing parenting class. Program options and curriculum materials can be adapted to meet the needs and topics unique to each family. Families are also able to choose the location for their meeting time, either in-person or virtually.

Cooking Matters

In partnership with Care and Share, classes inspire parents to make healthy, affordable food choices. Programs teach parents with limited food budgets to shop for and cook healthy meals for their families.

Circle of Parents

Circle Groups for moms, dads, and kids offer a safe, friendly, confidential, non-judgmental, supportive environment to share with and learn from other moms and dads. It’s a place where we openly celebrate success, address challenges, and find information and resources to support raising children. Children’s Circle programming provided during parent meetings focuses on social/emotional learning.

Family Connections Supports Children and Families

Rylan is happy and healthy and engaged in the Family Learning Center.  Her parents, Jed and Kirsten, participated in birthing classes, safety classes, and some life coaching to prepare them for Rylan’s birth. Once she was born, they engaged in more classes and activities. The relationships they have built through the weekly Family Learning Center activities has enriched their lives and Rylan is thriving.

We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future.
