November: National Adoption Month & Thanksgiving

The St. Anthony Prayer Society would like to focus the Lord’s graces through dedicated moments of focused prayer.

November is proclaimed as National Adoption Month.  Catholic Charities has been part of the adoption story for hundreds of children who have found forever homes through our adoption program. We seek brighter futures for children in this and other family programs. Every child deserves a forever family, and every parent deserves the chance to provide the best home they can. Catholic Charities also provides not only emergency services to families in crisis, but also support for greater future stability to include in-home parenting education, life coaching, and early literacy support.

With our Open Adoption program, children and adoptive families can know and have a relationship with the birth parents.  Research has shown that children in an open adoption have far fewer abandonment issues because of the open relationship which offers the ability to ask questions and have a relationship with the birth parents.

November is also the month for giving thanks for family and all that we have. Let us show our gratitude to our Heavenly Father through acts of mercy, service and compassion. May all of us become agents of God’s wondrous works of generosity, selflessness and benevolence.

Do you want to do something beautiful for God? There is a person who needs you. This is your chance.”  Mother Teresa

Together we pray:
Heavenly Father,

We pray for all children and families associated with adoption.  May the children who have found forever families be happy, loved and well-adjusted and experience real joy through Your grace and blessings. May all the families who choose to give a child a forever home be blessed and cared for.  Lord, we fervently request your intercession that more parents and families will open their hearts and homes to children in need. Bless those who have provided their unconditional love and care for their adoptive child and for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to give their child a better future through the gift of adoption.

O’ loving Father, we pray for all the staff of Catholic Charities that they continue their work to help make the transition to their new families a safe and holy one.  May they continue to become the beacon of hope for children looking for parents and for parents waiting for the children who will complete their homes.

As we enter into the holiday season, bless and keep all those who are separated or without a family to know your love and compassion.  Thank you, Father, for all the blessings that we have received.  May we be able to share these blessings through charity and service to our brothers and sisters in need.
