The St. Anthony Prayer Society would like to focus the Lord’s graces through dedicated moments of focused prayer.
Happy February! We continue our prayer journey by asking the St. Anthony of Padua Prayer Society to pray for those who are sick and for abundance of canned food.
On February 11th, we celebrate the 26th World Day of the Sick and offer prayers to those who are sick and suffering that they will draw inspiration from Mary, the Mother of Mercy. It is appropriate then to offer support and encouragement to the physicians, nurses, volunteers, and health care partners at the Marian House who provide health care services throughout the year for families and individuals experiencing poverty. Let us also offer prayers for our counseling staff in Colorado Springs and Castle Rock offices, to support those in need of mental health services. February is a time to pray for health and well-being.
Canned Food Awareness Month
February is National Canned Food Awareness Month. Canned food is a staple in the many food boxes that are distributed to families in need as well as used in the preparation of the daily meals served at the Marian House Soup Kitchen. Let us offer a daily prayer of thanksgiving for all our donors who help us ensure that we can provide daily meals for individuals and families suffering from hunger. May they continue their vocation to help us in our mission to help the poor, the needy, the sick and those suffering from hunger.
Food security and health go hand-in-hand. Recently, we published an article on this topic. Click here to read Good Food is Health, Wealth, and Security.
Let Us Pray Together:
Mary, our Mother,in Christ you welcome each of us as a son or daughter.
Sustain the trusting expectation of our hearts,
succor us in our infirmities and sufferings,
and guide us to Christ, your Son and our brother.
Help us to entrust ourselves to the Father who accomplishes great things.God of all goodness,Look with mercy on all who suffer any kind of infirmity, sickness or injury, that they may be comforted. Let your hand of healing and protection be upon them. When they are fearful, ease their fear and anxieties. When they are afraid, give them strength and courage. When they feel alone, send them someone to listen and to care. When they are confused, provide reassurance and direction. When they are in pain, ease their suffering. When they despair, give them hope. May they experience your healing presence in the comfort of a caregiver’s calm gaze and tender touch.Lord, we pray that You continuously bless all our staff at Catholic Charities with good health, to enable them to provide services for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. We also pray that You continuously bless our donors and their families that they may continue their vocation to help Catholic Charities feed and care for those who experience hunger from food and compassion. We ask this in Your Son’s holy name and powerful intercession of Mary, our mother.Amen.
