Marian House Holds 4th Annual Stuff the Bird Event – Tuesday November 14th
Catholic Charities will hold its 4th Annual Stuff the Bird event in downtown Colorado Springs on Tuesday, November 14 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Marian House. This is the beginning of our holiday food campaign. People can drive through the parking lot at 14 West Bijou Street and drop off frozen turkeys to the waiting volunteers on the day of the event. Gift Cards will also be accepted.
Turkeys are used in the Thanksgiving Day meal preparation at the Marian House for community members in need; for distribution to families, churches, schools, and food pantries throughout our 10 county service area in Central Colorado; and for use in meal preparation at the Marian House to help deliver more than 215,000 meals a year.
Catholic Charities’ Marian House goal this year is to collect 1,200 turkeys before Thanksgiving Day to meet our client requests, which are part of the overall Turkey Team Collaboration goal. The Turkey Team is comprised of Care & Share Food Bank, Springs Rescue Mission, and Catholic Charities of Central Colorado. Collectively, we hope to provide enough turkeys to meet the need in our community.
What to do if you cannot come to the Stuff the Bird event on Tuesday:
Turkeys can be dropped off at the Marian House dock, at 14 West Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, anytime in November. The dock is located on the west side of the building. Normal drop-off hours are Monday-Saturday, 7:30 am -2:00 pm. While we will take turkeys indefinitely, the majority of turkeys are needed by Friday, November 17th to be able to deliver them to families before Thanksgiving Day.
